ProgramsAt our farm we hold classes in a variety of farm-related subjects. All of our classes are workshops focused on specific rural skills such as "putting food by", sewing, fiber arts and needle craft. School GroupsFrom September-May, we host students from area schools and homeschools.
Topics are directly aligned with the NC Standard Course of Study, with pre-and post-visit integrated classroom activities. We feature a K-5 inquiry-based curriculum grounded in the NC Standard Course of Study and developed over three years in partnership with NC teachers. Hands-on activities focus on specific standards in Science and Social Studies, with Math and Language Arts extensions. We also provide classroom activities to take the message home. We work with each class individually, tailoring the program for the most rewarding time at the farm. We are certainly open to your topics and can tailor to individual groups.

KINDERGARTEN: Similarities and Differences in individuals, families and groups; structure, growth, change and movement
FIRST GRADE: Basic Needs, animal families: where they live and how needs are fulfilled; Similarities and Differences in individuals, families and groups
2nd GRADE: Life Cycles: birth, development, reproduction and death; Communities over time.
3rd GRADE: Plants on the farm; Communities meet basic needs.
4th GRADE: Structure and function in living systems, Adaptation; Our State: 1850-1930. NC history.
5th GRADE: Interdependence: producers, consumers and decomposeers. Farm ecosystem. Westward Expansion. The role of changing technology in moving people, goods and ideas. STUDENT GROUP FEES: $10/student Reservations Required.
