Come enjoy the farm with overnight lodging
This year for Spring Break, my 2 kids and I went on a Farm Stay adventure to North Carolina. It was an adventure because we live in Texas and we city folk, have never spent time on a farm before. So off we went for a 16 hour drive to the beautiful scenery of Hillsborough, North Carolina. As we approached the farm, Tucker the Border Collie greeted as we took in our new home for the next 6 days. We were greeted by Mrs. Green on the front porch of her quaint white farm house and quickly given a tour of the farm by her two grand-kids. It was amazing! They showed us the barn where the 5 baby goats live along with 2 calf's and loads of chickens. This is where we spent most of our time. We also met Jersey cows, turkeys, pigs, goats, geese, Dexter cows and tons of rabbits. It was so cool to see how they all live together on this free range organic farm. I loved it and so did my kiddos. This farm is unique because of the community. Everyone lives on the same property and eats an evening meal together. There are daily jobs to do and we just hopped right in there with helping milk of cows, gathering eggs, feeding rabbits and loving on those precious baby goats. Being a Farm Stay we had the flexibility to come and go as we pleased. So one day we went down the street to savor some real ice cream from a local dairy farm. Another day we drove into Raleigh for a visit to one of their many museums. Overall, this experience will be one we will never forget. Mr. and Mrs.Green were gracious and helpful hosts answering all of our questions and feeding us well. We hope to return this summer for more adventure and fun!
